We are already on the last week of January 2014. One month is almost over, eleven more to go. Well, technically ten more to go because honestly, who does anything too serious in December?
Anyways, I've never been a resolutions person and I noticed this year that new year's resolutions are finally out of fashion. Looooong overdue! I am very much a gaol-orientated person and those who know me personally know that I am a BIG dreamer! Honestly, my dreams are so ridiculous that they freak me out. They're so overwhelming that sometimes I'm afraid to start cos just like everyone else, I'm also afraid to fail. So, this year I'm trying something new…
This year I decided to make 12 week-goals. I got the idea from an article I read in the Forbes magazine last year. Why 12 weeks? 12 weeks is short. When you make a new year's resolution you really have 12 months to start whatever it is that you think you want to start, so you just keep procrastinating until you wake up one day, it's October and it's too late to start saving or losing weight (the holidays are coming anyways), too late to start reading, just too late to start anything. So then you vow, yet again, that you'll start the following year. Next thing you know, it's 5 years later and you still haven't saved a dime and you've gained weight instead of losing it. And then you just give up. Basically, I see resolutions as wishes instead of goals.
However, 3 months is too short to put anything off. It's really hard to procrastinate starting anything when you know you've only got 12 weeks to complete it. Especially something that you know will require you putting in work. I've now got just under 9 weeks to complete all the goals I set for myself at the start of the year. I have to focus on them every single day because I know that there's no time to waste. As result, I've already accomplished one and am well on my way to accomplish the rest. It is exciting but not always easy. The only disappointing thing is that now that I've accomplished that one goal, I only wish the goal was even greater. Oh well. Lesson learned.
On March 31 I will openly share with you all the goals I set, all those I accomplished and all those I failed to complete. I doubt I will fail though cos failure is not an option.
The one goal I can share with you now though is that I will update this blog at least once a week. So if I fail to do that, please feel free to remind me. I also need the support. I'm also human.
And please, if you're inspired to start setting 12 week goals too, please do let me know. I'd love to walk the journey with you.
Have a beautiful and productive week ahead.
I think a lot. I question a lot. This is my journey to finding the answers and also sharing with you my thoughts on life as i see it...
